Scottburgh Golf Club

The course runs down from the Old Main Road to the sea shore and the views and sounds of the waves crashing onto the beach is ever present.  Here you will experience firsthand the relaxed way of life enjoyed on the south coast and you will find the locals laid back, friendly and very welcoming to visitors.

This is a challenging course with 5 par 3’s, 11 par 4’s and 2 par 5’s with the average par 4 being 330 meters long.  You can expect hilly terrain, large greens, undulating fairways, plenty of doglegs and several bunkers that will trick and test your abilities.  The layout for the first nine is quite open often forcing golfers to deal with the coastal wind.  The second nine turns slightly inland and is easier to play because it is more sheltered.

Hole 3 has the narrowest fairway of the course with out of bounds on the right and coastal forest on the left.  At hole 12 you get to play across the only water hazard.  The last hole tees off from a raised tee box and is thrilling to play as you will have to make a blind shot across high treetops onto the fairway below.

As with all the courses next to the ocean the wind is a big factor and will quickly turn a challenging course into a true test of character and golfers might have to ‘grin and bear’ to save the day.  The condition of the course is dependent on the rain or the lack of rain due to water restrictions making a round of golf at the Scottburg Golf Club so much more interesting.
