Mac Banana might have started off as a farm stall on a 16 hectare working banana farm back in 2005 when Vernon and Gloria Duggan bought the farm, but it is so much more today. This business savvy couple transformed a humble banana farm into a uniquely South African shopping, entertainment and adventure sport destination of note.

The big parking space in front of the line of buildings is your first clue that you are dealing with much more than a typical ‘farm stall.’ At the main entrance you get to walk through a plant nursery that will definitely delight any gardener before entering the very impressive Food and Wine emporium.

Shelves stacked with homemade and imported goodies of every kind and variety you can dream of stretch off in all directions, leaving you at a lost as to where to start. Think homemade jams, preserves, chutneys, honey, nuts, sweets, rusks, cookies, dried fruit, fresh flowers and much, much more …

Off to the side, with its own entrance, is a fruit and vegetable section with the most amazing fresh and organic selection of produce that are mostly grown right there on the farm. A Deli and freshly baked breads and treats are also on offer and will have you coming back for more.

No less than 4 restaurants on the premises will guarantee that you won’t go hungry or thirsty. Don’t miss out on their famous milkshakes and pancakes.

To the side of the main building is a Car Wash where you can leave you car to be cleaned while you go shopping or have a cup of coffee. There is also a Lifestyle Center with even more on offer:

As you move deeper into the farm there is a Farm Yard with farm animals that can be petted or fed. The butterfly dome is home to a beautiful selection of butterflies where very informative guided tours are on offer. If you are into adventure sport there are a wide range of dare devil activities to try.

Take note that entrance is free but that you have to pay for each activity you take part in.

Eat at Mac Banana:

There is a great choice of yummy food on offer and you will be spoiled for choice. I can recommend their milkshakes (beware: it is very filling) and salad dressings. Take note that the waiting time for food to arrive is long and the service tend to be very slow when it is busy.

Portugese Farm Restaurant with a varied menu that also caters for groups and special events. Try the “build-a-burger” option.

The best place to get freshly prepared fish and seafood dishes and take-aways. Also frozen fish/seafood.

Opened on 10 February 2018: Italian pizzeria that offers really yummy pizza in a relaxed atmosphere.

Breakfast, pancakes and light meals. Fully licensed. Beautiful outside seating area with gorgeous views of the farm.

Shopping

If you are looking for old favorites or items that you won’t find in other shops Mac Banana is a ‘must do.’ From delectable ‘Grandma’s kitchen’ items to health supplies to select wines to the freshest fresh fruits and vegetables to … the list is endless. And yes, they stock Banting products.

Activities for the Whole Family:

Since most of the activities are oriented to cater for the whole family, the list of things to do with your family is long and in typical Mac Banana fashion, ever growing. There are play areas near most of the restaurants ensuring that the children can have a great time playing while the grown-ups are taking a break while waiting for yummy food and drinks to arrive.
