Amanzimtoti Beach

Are you ready for a fun day at the Toti Beach?

Amanzimtoti Beach is one of the most popular holiday spots on the KZN South Coast, offering golden sands, warm Indian Ocean waves, and plenty of activities for all ages. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, or a fun day out with the kids, this beach has it all. For those who love a surf – check out our guide to local surf spots on the KZN South Coast.

The wide, sandy shoreline is perfect for beach volleyball, sandcastle building, or simply stretching out under the sun for the perfect tan. Take a refreshing dip in the warm waters, or stroll along the promenade and soak up the sea views.

When it’s time to refuel, you’ll find plenty of beachfront restaurants and cafes serving fresh seafood, ice-cold drinks, and delicious coffee for those who can’t start the day without their caffeine fix.

For family-friendly fun, Splash Water World is a must-visit. Located right by the beach, this water park offers slides for every thrill level—from gentle rides for toddlers to adrenaline-pumping chutes for the brave at heart. You’ll also find a large swimming pool, an ice cream station, mini golf, braai (barbecue) areas, and deck seating with spectacular views of the ocean.

If you prefer a more relaxed pace, the Amanzimtoti Lagoon is perfect for paddle boating, fishing, or spotting local birdlife. Sunrise and sunset walks along the beachfront are especially magical, with safe swimming areas and lifeguards on duty ensuring a worry-free experience.

The rocky outcrop past the swimming pool is a great fishing spot to spend your day ‘working’ on catching dinner for tonight.

Whether you’re a local or visiting the KZN South Coast, Amanzimtoti Beach offers the perfect mix of sun, sea, and entertainment—making it one of the best things to do in Amanzimtoti.

There is a large lawn area in front of the buildings that house the various restaurants, lifeguard offices, and bathroom facilities to use when you want to be near the beach but not on the beach. During the holiday season, hawkers will display their wares on the side of the lawn area. They will have a good selection of hats, flip-flops, buckets, and mini shovels (for building sandcastles), handwoven baskets, beach bags, and apparel, and even handmade jewelry.

The Pools at Amanzimtoti Beach

To the right side of the beach, the pools are built into the rocky outcrop. There are three pools: a shallow pool (for small kids), a slightly deeper pool, and a large pool where you will be able to swim lengths. The water is sparkling blue and very inviting.

Parking

There is plenty of parking at the Amanzimtoti Beach and plenty of self appointed car guards to help you find a space and look after your car while you are at the beach.

Continue down the street and you will find even more parking areas that lead down to braai (barbecue) areas that are protected from the wind by a green wall of trees and scrubs.

Where is the Amanzimtoti Beach?

Use the map below to find your way to this great beach.  I find it is easiest to take the turn-off from the N2 Highway at the Galleria Shopping Center and turn towards the ocean.
