Explore Margate Nightlife
Vibrant Evenings on the KZN South Coast
Margate is a favorite holiday and party destination for many because of its vibey atmosphere and exciting nightlife. In contrast, the rest of the south coast can be described as laidback and more suited to gentle relaxation.
Margate nightlife ranges from legendary beach parties to happening nightclubs to numerous pubs and friendly watering holes – there are plenty of things to choose between. The selection of restaurants is wide and varied if you fancy a good meal. Take a short drive to Shelly Beach to see the latest movie. And the Wild Coast Sun Hotel and Casino, which offers gambling in a breathtaking setting, is only a 30-minute drive down the coast.
Please also note that some of the venues we list may operate seasonally. If you find one that has moved or closed, do let us know. In peak holiday seasons (December/January and Easter), Margate’s nightlife scene becomes much more active with additional pop-up venues and events. During peak season, the main beach area comes alive with beach parties, music concerts, festivals, nightly Mardi Gras, beach competitions, flea markets, and exhibitions.
